Environment Abondance

Les Châteaux d’Abondance is located in the unique, authentic French mountain village of Abondance in the Abondance Valley, or the “Valley of Plenty”.

And …… there is plenty in abundance: sun and snow, the rugged mountain region of Haute Savoie, Savoyard cuisine, Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) and neighboring Switzerland with famous cosmopolitan cities such as Geneva, Lausanne and Montreux.

The skiing possibilities of Les Portes du Soleil are limitless and Europe’s largest ski area is absolutely guaranteed of snow. From December until May you can enjoy an abundance of sun and snow. The beginners and families with small children can already enjoy the local ski slopes of Abondance. Within “no time” you can also enter the more than 650 km of ski slopes of Les Portes du Soleil.

These ski slopes are also wide for the novice skier and families with children to steep and narrow for the real cracks. Waiting times at the lifts are hardly known, due to the large lift capacities and the vastness of the ski areas. You will find many famous places here such as Avoriaz and Morzine and the Swiss Morgins and Les Crosets. Alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing (Nordic Walking), tobogganing, it is all possible in this beautiful ski area with many trees and forest trails.

Les Portes du Soleil is also a fantastic location for your summer vacation. During the summer, at least 14 ski lifts remain open to take the mountain biker to the peaks of the mountains. There are numerous possibilities to discover the mountains on foot, with the high mountains of the Haute Savoie in the background. And how about a wonderful boat trip on the vast Lake Geneva and then have a nice lunch or dinner in fashionable and bustling Lausanne? It’s all within reach. The river Dranse, which flows through the Abondance valley, offers many opportunities for water sports.

In la Chapelle d’Abondance and the nearby French Châtel and Swiss Morgins are many shops, cafes and, mostly culinary, restaurants. In addition, these places offer a rich and varied nightlife for young and old. There are also plenty of shopping options in the famous places such as Geneva, Evian les Bains, Lausanne and Montreux.
