The owners

Romex Investments B.V. was founded in 2008 by Paul de Römph (ROM) and Joren Exler (EX). Romex Investments has now been in existence for 12 years.

Paul de Römph (ROM) and Joren Exler (EX) are the founders and current owners of Romex. They also form the executive committee of the company. In the background, there is another financially powerful co-shareholder, who mainly supports Paul and Joren with new developments and the growth of the company.

Paul is 60 years old and lives with his wife and 5 children near The Hague. After studying economics at the HES in Rotterdam, Paul has gained a lot of expertise and experience in financial and management positions at various large international companies such as IKEA, CODA-Financials and BAAN Company over the past 25 years.

At the start of 1999, Paul was appointed as CFO of an international pharmaceutical group. In 2008, after working nearly 10 years as CFO for the above-mentioned Private Equity Fund, Paul decided to continue his career as an independent entrepreneur. One of his subsequent achievements was a management buyout, taking over a food safety diagnostics company. At the same time, he and his business partner Joren Exler founded “Romex Investments B.V.”, a real estate business that focuses on the second home market in the Alpine countries.

He has now sold his food safety diagnostics business to be able to fully concentrate on his real estate and restaurant activities.

Paul started the company Glennie’s Investments B.V. in 2016. This company is especially for his son Glenn (26 years old) who has Down’s Syndrome. This is the Holding of the future restaurant chain Glennie’s Restaurants. At the end of 2016, the first Glennie’s restaurant opened in Wildschönau (Tyrol, Austria). The second restaurant is currently being built in Westendorf and will open in late 2021. There are also plans for more Glennie’s restaurants in Austria and the Netherlands for the future.

Joren is 40 years old and lives with his wife and two children in Amsterdam.

After studying business economics at the HES in Amsterdam, Joren specialized in Finance at the Free University of Amsterdam. In 2005 he obtained his Master in Finance.

Straight after his studies, Joren started as a Management Trainee at Rabobank, where he gained experience in various departments, such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Senior Relation Baking, Large Corporate Rotterdam and Debt Capital Markets. He then started working as an Equity Sales Manager at Rabobank Securities.

In 2007, he decided to pursue his entrepreneurial ambition within Romex Investments, together with business partner Paul de Römph.
