Environment Gerlos

Gerlos is at an altitude of over 1300 meters and is absolutely snow-sure. It is located in the middle of the Zillertal Arena with a total of about 200 km of ski slopes. With the new gondola, winter sports enthusiasts can leave from the center of Gerlos to the slopes. The Dorfbahn Gerlos is a great asset to the Zillertal Arena and offers various services.

The Isskogel lift leads the beginners to numerous wide blue slopes. Advanced skiers can enjoy the many red and black slopes, take endless trips or take challenging descents in the nearby Könnigsleiten. Since Gerlos is part of the immense Zillertal Arena, endless skiing is possible without interruption.

With its main street full of different accommodations, many cafes and bars and cozy restaurants, Gerlos also offers excellent après-ski options. The Austrians have a reputation for conviviality. When twilight sets in, it is good and pleasant to stay in the many catering establishments that Gerlos has to offer. Legendary are the “Cin-cin” and “Little London”.

Several hiking trails wind through the beautiful alpine landscape. For example, the Krummbachalm (1890m) can be climbed on foot. Other routes lead to the village of Wald or to the Lackenalm (1405m). There is much to discover in Gerlos on a mountain bike. Challenging single trails, beautiful tours and guided tours are possible. Gerlos also offers many possibilities for practicing climbing. In the village there is a 12 meter high climbing tower, on which the first meters of the sport can be practiced.

If you drive a little further from Gerlos, towards Königsleiten, you will arrive at the Durlaßboden Stausee. In summer, the water heats up to a degree of 21 and you can go there not only for cooling and relaxation, but also for sport activities. On the lake you can enjoy fishing, surfing, canoeing, boating, sailing and pedal boats. You can also take a 10-kilometer hike around the lake or simply enjoy the panoramic view of the terrace at Gasthof Finkau, the Bärschlagalm and the Seestüberl.
